| Congenial and family-friendly, The Royal Oak is a welcoming country pub in the East Sussex village of Barcombe. Formerly a pair of cottages, the building dates back to the 16th century, and the interior has retained much of its quaint period charm. Not only do the regulars come here to enjoy a fine pint, but the food also has a far-reaching reputation. The fare offers restaurant at regular pub prices, served in surroundings that are elegant and stylish. Hearty British classics fill the menu, accompanied by international favourites, buffet menus and portions for children, who can also enjoy the play area in the spacious beer garden. It is not surprising that there is such a friendly feel to the place, as your hosts Mike and Caroline Austen have been here for over 25 years and firmly established the Royal Oak as the favourite drinking spot among the local community. |
